Mt Princeton (14,197) by Brian Schultz   Thursday  July 11, 1996

The week's great weather continued as I drove up the Mount Princeton road and parked near the radio towers. A hike up the road before cutting off to gain the southeast ridge is the described route to this peak. I had no trouble finding my way up the ridge, made the summit early and joined seven others already on top. I stayed up a long time enjoying the warm day and nice views. On my way down I passed a group of 26 high school students, each of who said hello to me on their way up. They were working at the youth camp at the base of Mt Princeton. All total there were more than 40 hikers today on the peak.

On the road back down to the Jeep, I met a fellow who was checking out the area for some scenic shooting. Hadji, a filmmaker from Nathrop, and I struck up a long conversation before we parted ways. He later sent me a video which was already playing on many cable stations around the country.

The route on Princeton is straightforward but the hiking is moderate, not as easy as the prior four peaks I did before it.
