Mount Antero (14,269) by Brian Schultz   Wednesday  July 10, 1996

At least this road was much easier to drive up than yesterday's. I parked around timberline but one can four wheel drive all the way up to 13,000 ft. Driving up that far would have oversimplified the hike and I wanted something more than that. I began walking up the road, but went too far and and decided to shortcut up a loose, scree gully to get to the ridge. It would have been far easier to have just turned around on the road. The summit can be seen from here and it's an easy stroll up to the top. On the summit was a group of young kids and two leaders. It was fascinating with the clouds drifting about us on this gorgeous sunny day. I stayed up quite a while before descending.

Another very easy hike.
